Safety Rules for Shooting Rival Steel Targets

Fundamental Rules of Firearms Safety

  • Treat all firearms as though they are loaded
  • Point the muzzle in a sage direction at all times
  • Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are on target and have dedided to fire
  • Be sure of your target and what is beyond it

RULES FOR SHOOTING RIVAL STEEL TARGETS:

  • The 4x4 post used for the Rival Steel stand must be at a minimum of 38" to a maximum of 42"
  • Always wear proper personal protection devices including but not limited to- proper eye and hearing protection, a hat or brimmed device to protect forehead, long sleeved shirt and long pants
  • Never use ammunition that exceeds the target's caliber rating
  • Never use steel targets for purposes outside their intend use
  • Minimum recommended distance with a handgun and standard led ammunition is 10 yards
  • Rival Target System is designed for handgun calibers up to 45acp
  • Maximum handgun ammunition velocity is 1,500 fps
  • Never use armor-piercing, steel-core, or other hardened ammunition
  • Spectators must also wear proper eye and ear protection and must remain at least 3 yards behind the shooter
  • Never shoot on steel targets that have damaged or deformed in any way
  • Target Maintenance Targets displaying any signs of bending, cracks, or damage should be replaced immediately to ensure continued safety. 
  • Target must have a proper backstop and never be shot at an angle from the side that might cause a bullet to deflect in an unsafe direction
  • Target must be placed over a surface that will reduce or eliminate the likelihood of bullet fragments traveling in an unsafe direction
  • Use target only in an area that will not cause a fire due to hot bullet fragments or sparks caused by bullet impact with target or target mounting system
  • All targets are considered consumable and will wear as they are shot. It is the responsibility of the user to only shoot the target at safe distances and distances that minimize wear of the target. If you notice unacceptable wear, ensure you are following the above directions for minimum shooting distances. Otherwise extend the shooting distance to the target until wear is minimized
  • Inspect target before each use and replace target when severely pitted or otherwise damaged. Remember, both sides of the target can be used. A severely pitted or damaged steel target can present a hazardous situation due to unpredictable bullet fragmentation or ricochet
  • Targets and target stands will accumulate lead residue when shot. Always wash your hands with soap and water after handling targets, target stands, and before eating and drinking

 

Liability Release and Waiver

By purchasing, possessing, or utilizing this product, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

1. Assumption of Risk: You recognize that engaging in shooting activities, particularly at steel targets, presents inherent risks, including potential injuries or death. As a condition of using this product, you accept and assume all such risks associated with these activities.

2. Release of Liability: You hereby release and forever discharge the manufacturer, distributor, and retailer from any claims, demands, or causes of action that you may hereafter have for injuries or damages arising out of your use of the product. 

3. Indemnification: You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the manufacturer, distributor, and retailer against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, or expenses resulting from your misuse of the product.

4. Limitation of Warranties: The product is provided "as is," without any express warranties. Implied warranties are disclaimed to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. You bear the sole responsibility for the safe and proper use of the product. 

5. Compliance with Hazardous Substance Laws ad Regulations: In the recognition of the environmental and health risks posed by the use of the lead and other hazardous substances in shooting activities, the purchaser agrees to comply fully with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding the disposal of lead and other hazardous substances. This includes, but is not limited to, adherence to the guidelines set forth in the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65) and other state-specific hazardous substance regulations. The purchaser acknowledges that exposure to certain chemicals and metals, including lead, is know to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm, and agrees to take all necessary precautions to minimize exposure and properly dispose of such materials. 

6. Arbitration Agreement: Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this product or this agreement, including the determination of the scope or applicability of this agreement to arbitrate, shall be determined by the arbitration in Iron County, Utah, before one arbitrator, The arbitration shall be administered in pursuant to the Commercial Arbitration Rules of American Arbitration Association, Judgement on the award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. This clause shall not preclude parties from seeking provisional remedies in aid of arbitration from a court of appropriate jurisdiction. 

7. Governing Law and Venue: The Liability Release and Wavier and  any dispute arising hereunder shall be governed by the construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, excluding its conflict of laws principles. The parties agree that any legal sue, action, or proceeding arising out of or related to this agreement or the transactions contemplated hereby shall be instituted exclusively in the federal courts of the United Stated of America or the courts of the State of Utah in each clse located in Iron County, Utah and each party irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts in any suite, action, or proceeding. 

8. By purchasing, possessing, or utilizing  this product, you acknowledge and agree to comply with the above provisions concerning the use of the product and those regarding lead disposal and hazardous substance compliance, the arbitration agreement, and the governing law and venue provisions as part of the terms of use for this product. 

9. Modifications and Severability: We reserve the right to modify these safety instructions and liability wavier at any time without notice. Should any provision of this waiver be deemed unlawful, void, or unenforceable for any reason, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this waiver and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. 

10. Acknowledgement and Agreement to Terms: By using this product, you confirm your understanding and compliance with the above safety instructions and liability waiver, as representing a binding agreement between you and the manufacturer, If the terms of this Lability Waiver and Release are not acceptable, the product may be returned to Rival Targets within thirty (30) days from the date of purchase, provided the product is unused and in its original condition. the purchaser shall be responsible for all shipping costs associated with the return.
